- Economic Losses Due to Enterotoxaemia in Sheep

A study was conducted to estimate the economic losses due to enterotoxaemia and to analyse the factors influencing those losses. The data were collected from the sample of 42 enterotoxaemia-affected sample sheep farms randomly selected from 6 blocks in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu. The average annual economic loss due to enterotoxaemia was estimated to be Rs.2161.00, Rs.4039.58 and Rs.4792.74 in small, medium and large farms respectively, in which the loss due to mortality formed the greater proportion with around 94 per cent in all size categories. The overall per animal loss due to enterotoxaemia in ram, ewe and lamb was Rs.1142.50, Rs.856.70 and Rs.364.00 respectively. As all the affected animals died, the economic loss involved was just more than the value of animals lost, considering the treatment cost. The regression functional analysis carried out indicated that the variables such as the number of adults affected, number of young ones affected, season during which the disease occurred and whether regular deworming was done or not were all found to be significantly influencing the losses due to enterotoxaemia.Keywords

Nowadays modern manufacturing system is enforced to find out the new material such as metal matrix composite or ceramic matrix composite. The aim of this research is to invent the aluminium based metal matrix composite such as 80% of Al 6061-20% of SiC and 90% of Al 6061-10% of SiC. The aluminum 6061 alloy based composite is prepared through stir casting route. Then the composite is heat treated at the critical temperature. After heat treatment, the mechanical properties of composite are compared before extrusion and after heat treatment. Mechanical properties of both heat-treated and as fabricated composites showed a high dependence on the ceramic content. The yield, ultimate tensile strength, and the elastic modulus of the material were increased with volume fraction of carbide, whereas the ductility was decreased. The tensile properties are seen to vary significantly with ageing treatment. The highest strengths were obtained for the solution heat-treated and naturally aged Al-6061: SiC composites containing 20 vol. % SiC.Keywords

Engineering is mostly concerned about customers' satisfaction. Initial stage for every production processes is designing. It is the only activity through which a designer can express his ideas into a real product. It covers the major portion of time and cost of production. Hence our project focus on modeling, to reduce the time and cost. Transfer of energy is the basic for any action and for this mainly used industrial component is shaft. Couplings and joints act as a language between two shafts. Based on the diameter of the shaft the dimensions of the coupling vary. Hence there is a need to remodel the component as per the new dimension. To reduce the time of modeling, this project deals with automatic generation of universal coupling. In the present study Culex quinquefasciatus mosquito vectors were recorded in the study area distributed throughout Perumpallam canal, Erode District. Mosquito larvae were collected duringthe study period Jan – Dec 2018 in ten locations utilizing long larval nets in different sites of breeding. Temperature, pH and salinity were also measured seasonally in these sites. The survey revealed that the most common vector was Culex quinquefasciatus. Mosquito in Erode are prevalent in four seasons, rarely encountered in summer, moderation during the winter and are found in maximum during the post monsoon period.Keywords
